Wouldn’t it be nice…

If I had a partner whom I have a million things in common with? Was reading ex-national bowler Andrew Fang’s wife’s blog. She took up triathlons after being spurred on by her husband. So cool!

If my kids in their teens were to think that mama was a boring old person who only plays tennis until one fine night mama packs them up and brings them to a billiard centre…And hurhurhurhur.

 ——

Wishes aside, today was nice. Got wind that I’ll be involved an upcoming campaign soon (!), did my timesheet (finally), finish up a couple of jobs and PLAYED UNREAL TOURNAMENT WITH MY MENTOR.

Yes, at the office. HEHEHEHEHE.

I’m not fantastic at FPS games or other arcade games alike. Dexterity on the computer is not a pride of mine. And I never thought much of computer games after I went to secondary school, because then I stopped playing StarCraft or Red Alert. Brother’s influence, what else.

But anyway, it was really fun. I got whacked badly in the deathmatch 18-2, but I managed to hold up longer in the other map. Tanks should be banned, really. That evil glint in AK’s eyes when we played was slightly unsettling, though. After I left, he smsed me saying that his brain was still ‘very focused on killing’. Yikes.

Such a pity that he’ll be leaving the country soon… Ah well.

Standard Chartered Marathon 2006!

I’m going for it. :) )

Trying to decide between 10km and 21km. Will I be able to train up for the latter by December?
Amazingly, I could do 5km non-stop before my left ankle started crying on the treadmill. Something I can’t usually do… Must be my iBenita’s and happy musik. And the treadmill. And CNA. Okay….. Erhh… Still, Yippee.

P.S. For dinner, I replenished the calories I lost at some Westlake Restaurant place. Hooray for Kong Ba Paos! Pffft.

To the Depp of the Sea. HAHAHA.

Just watched Pirates of the Caribbean. Why doesn’t anyone find it funny when I call it Pilates of the Caribbean??

C’mon, imagine the cast doing yoga on the beach, sitting in a row and meditating in Carribean-speak.

…

Ah forget it.

And forget about watching what happens after the credits. It’s not worth the 10-minute credit-rolling-at-5-frames-per-second wait. Trust me. Just ask me; I’ll tell you what happens lah. And if you don’t go "oh." or "chey." on purpose, I’ll treat you to teh-ping.

Cinematography’s all good. Storyline’s a bit of a nag. Wished they didn’t dialogue as much as the action.

There always comes a time when trying to keep you at the edge of the seat makes you fall off instead.

But I still hate being reminded.
Still do.

Small things.

Excerpt from the latest Friendster testimonial I’ve received. The first after quite a while, I must say. But who cares. I realised that I never really touch that thing anymore, save going in to kaypo now and then and when some email bugs me to check out some oh-so-different-person-already picture.

"beni!! noe wat? i just dug out my huge pile of collecting-dust-and-still-in-the-process-of-collecting-more-dust nh pics and came to a conclusion that u r both the same and different ever since i last saw u..sounds contradictory eh?

different because of ur looks la…u pretty lady transformed from the one-leg-on-the-chair-girl!!!"

I subconsciously put my leg down.

Then put it back up again.

Right, and I’m going to Gold Coast!! With 2 cousins and 2 nieces. I’ve managed to get a week off for the trip in early September. My trip with ECYY will be postponed till we both become financially stable. Hmm. =(

Work’s been good busy and good fun. Wait — when has it not been? Oh, when I don’t think of my girth’s piling on.

Anyway.

Went to this really sweet photography studio (more like big warehouse) today. The Shooting Gallery, it is. And golly me, the place is fashioned like a super nice home. That explains how busy shoots can get, eh. Of course, what took the cake for me was the 9ft pool table! But they have only one working cue for the many they have there.

Darn, I really gotta keep my playful streak down. It’s leaking out slowly. Hard to suppress for too long, it is.

I’ll put up a couple of pictures that I snuck into my phone’s lousy camera in the next post. Ugh, woe is me for being slave to aesthetics. Geshundeit, I’m past that Superficiality phrase. I’m aiming to get that phone-in-a-camera. Teehee. Cameras-in-a-phone are not cool. Don’t really want the N80 anymore.

Did I just say ‘not cool’?

Whatever. My colleagues are rubbing off me. But I’m not complaining! Apart from them loving food and creating birthday surprises too often. Heh. Welfare rocks.

And did you hear about the spellchecking company that couldn’t spell?
Talk about egg in your face.

Bummer, but this shows that anything can happen. Anything.

Why can’t I sleep?

Funny how a hundred and one questions can get stuck in the throat (or fingers, rather) once they’re being opened to.

I can do tennis already!! And my stroke’s getting better!!!
Fine, I’ll try to sleep.

Go away.. Please?

Oh no.

Okay. I’ve got bad news…

I’m…

I’m…

Pregnant.

(Pregnant pause.)

WRONG!

I’m B E N I T A.

Hahahahaha *ahem*

Nothing much — just thinking that at the rate I’m eating, my three-month-old ‘bulge’ will resurface uglier, badder, and BIGGER.

Argh, so much for the training et al. And no exercise because of bad shoulder.

Here’s the menu of the week, start Saturday:

Saturday: Pasta (lunch) 9-course Zi Char at JB (dinner)
Sunday: Packed rice (l) 3 packets of instant beehoon (d)
Monday: Kimchi soup and rice (l) Beef hor fun (d)
Tuesday: Curry fish head (l) Chomp chomp feast (d)
Wednesday: Vietnamese food at Amara Hotel (l) Prata and Kambing soup (d)
Thursday: 8-course Zi Char (l) Pies + Venezia at 6th Ave (d)

Wooooohooooooo. Bulgebulgebulgebulgebulgebulge!

Toe jam.

My arm has been less immobile, so I took the risk and went for a much-needed-delayed-awaited jam. No regrets! It was a great session. And at least my drumming isn’t going stagnant. (:

Now, just that ickle pain to go before I can have my arm in full swing again.

All puns intended.

+ I’m learning how to write long copy ads now. Trust me, it’s tiring, tough, and testing. Like the ECD and CH5 says, many copywriters nowadays can come up with ideas but getting them to string a sentence together? Quite tough.

Reassuring, huh. I’m trying to keep my discipline there now. It’s been 3 days and various clean-ups of the copy. Logic, structure, flow, SELL. Old D&AD books are my best friends now.

Got my internship extension (not without a few jibes from the HR Man). :)

Now WHERE should I go for my week-long break? Suggestions, please!!

Banter of the day.

Well, okay, it wasn’t so much of ‘banter’ — things were getting just so slightly heated up because of a crappy campaign about to roll out but the client was being… The Client.

Here goes.

AK47: Do you know that you have 2 of the most experienced writers working on XXXXXXX?? Look at CH5 here — you’re talking to one person who *&^%$#@ knows what should be done…

CH5 (interrupts, sounding very dignified.): HE-LLO! You shall NOT use my name with that word!

 @@@

AK47 wasn’t referring to himself as one of the 2 (act humble!). But hey, nothing like good wit to ease tensions.

It says…

’Tis a drain cover around my workplace. Three cheers for desalination plants!!!

 And……………………………….

Find out where it all ends!

It’s been a long time, and I miss those days.
It was a bittersweet moment, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Splayed naturally.

This is, perhaps, my most dangerous and major injury to myself. And thank God it wasn’t so major.

I wouldn’t have complained this much if I dislocated my shoulder playing tennis. But not with badminton. Rawr. At least the arm popped back into its socket when I jerked back in shock. Funnily enough, I was grinning more than my colleagues around me.

The agony became more emotional than physical when I realised that I had to be in tip-top condition to play drums for not one, but three services. And yesterday was one of the only times that I appreciated having an electronic and small drumset which didn’t need me to move around so much. Thank God that I pulled through despite a bit of a scare in the morning.

It also meant no tennis, sigh.

Perhaps last week’s random disorder-of-the-week was a telling sign. I kept practising writing with my left hand and doing things with it. Rather fun too, I must say.

I have many things I really need to thank God for.

Thank You, Father — for protecting me throughout my internship. For showing me the path I will be walking down. For letting me be taken care of by the most wonderful and real people in the company. For giving me the best mentors ever. For giving me good health, for granting me intelligence, for guiding me through work, play and church, for being there for me, and for so many other things that You’ve blessed me with. Take care of those who’ve blessed me; take care of those around me. Thank You.

There are no words good enough to thank You
There are no words to express my praise
But I will lift up my voice and sing to the Lord
With all of my strength… Hallelujah!

Red lantern, Green intern.

No. I wasn’t jealous of the terrific-sounding, professional, articulate, smooth, to-kill-for voices at all. That of the deejays that did the recording for the radio commercial at Red Lantern recording studios today. Not at all. Nah-uh.

There was Jean Danker, Justin Ang and Yasmin. And the writer Norain (Yas and No!! HAHAHA.) and Benita. I’m not telling how we entered the picture. Ahem. Picture? Oh yes, pictures!

This the recording room…

J.A. and J.D… I’m not sorry about the poor camera quality. Must be more discreet lah, got clients *snigger* around leh!

This Mr. C on Inuendo. "Protools is… Quite limited."

Let me see what else. They’re really quite professional. Didn’t need to take too many takes. Then again, the roles were quite close to their real-life personalities.

Did I mention that I’m working on an upcoming pitch? Under the Exec. CD. :D And I’m extending my internship (no, not school-related) till early October.

I have to see my baby materialise.

A simple ‘hi’ that went a long way.

I admit, I didn’t want to go back to school. All I wanted was to start working at the place I want to be, doing the job that I’ve fallen in love with.

But today, I dropped by school to get a stamp and signature for the Crowbar Awards entry form. And changed my mind.

I do miss school. And many.

Really, I don’t care about what happened once upon a time that discouraged me momentarily. I only know that I miss seeing people my age. I miss hearing Really Random Rants and outbursts. I miss feeling the team spirit amongst my peers.

It’s a mystery to me who reads my blog nowadays, anyway. But just so you guys know, I’ve been snooping around the Urbanwire and CTV and Radio Heatwave (plugplugplug!) pages, and I couldn’t help but smile as I read the stuff up there. With pride.

Kick butt, y’all. (:

For a twist of fate.

From the very moment they met, they parted. Though nothing more than a naviete, she already knew what would entail. Fool.

Giving up — in all sense of the word. But it was a major struggle doing just that. Like Man would say, you cannot cry over spilt milk. Because it would never the same again, no matter how much you would try to clean up the mess.

The die had been cast. Cast into stone.

So what if she finally turned and pulled away? She had chosen that forked, wounding path, hence she shall face what lies ahead. Alone. With God alone.

#15

And yes, here it is!

Team Neuf is unfortunately, not 9th. We’re 15 out of 37 teams!

We were less than 10 minutes away from being in the Top 10!!! DARNIT. It’s very satisfying anyway, being my first experience in a external sporting event after what, 6 years? Am quite happy with my 40:40 + leg cramp timing, but woah, I spotted a primary school friend (I remember her as a flat-footed swimmer who went off to GEP in Primary 3) at the swim, and her name is somewhere below… Her team was disqualified because of the runner but heck, her swim time is FREAKY. 26:24, can you beat that!!!! She PWNS guys lah!
